Read Todd's story below:

Hey, thanks for checking out my car!! My dad and I had a great time restoring this Malibu and it's been a blast driving it around town this summer. I purchased the car from the original owner who lived in Alameda, CA and the car ran and drove great, I was shocked at how well mechanically it had been maintained and the 50 mile drive home going 80 mph was a piece of cake!

We began the frame off restoration in January 2007 and spent nearly a year to complete the project. With the exception of the paint and bodywork, my dad and I were able to do all the work ourselves from our garage/home auto shop

We removed the body from the original chassis and placed it on a spare rolling chassis and then sent it off to be media blasted. Media blasting revealed some major quarter panel damage, but despite that the car was 99% rust free and fairly straight. We then delivered the car to Los Gatos Auto Body, where it received a replacement quarter panel, welded up side molding holes and a beautiful coat of metallic silver paint.

Meanwhile, while the car was off being painted, we were able to complete the restoration to the chasis and running gear. The original 2-speed powerglide was swapped for a 4-speed Muncie, upgraded 4-wheel disc brakes were added, performance suspension components were used, quick ration steering and original rally wheels. Also, the original 283 ran so well that I just cleaned it up and reinstalled it.

Once the body and chassis came back together, we got busy reassembling everything, including the all new black interior and the original seats that we reconditioned with new foam and seat covers. The 4-speed conversion required adding the clutch pedal assembly, floor shift hump and matching steering column. On the exterior, some original trim was reused, but otherwise everything is new reproduction parts.
