Dave's Car Space Tip: To search for a keyword in the Help section, on your keyboard press and hold "Control" then press "F". Type in your keyword and click search. If you are using a Mac, on your keyboard press and hold "Apple" then "F" to search a keyword.

General Profile and Site Navigation

How do I navigate the website?
To navigate the site, start at the Main page where you can see a preview of members, search for friends by high school or keyword and check out the latest Featured Member. You will notice at the top of the website that there are several "tabs". Each tab--Main, My Page, Members, Classifieds, Forum, Clubs, Featured, Photos, Videos, Business, Help--will lead you to a specific area. Click on a tab to check out its contents.

How do I create a profile on Dave's Car Space?
Creating a profile on Dave's Car Space is easy. For most of our members, sign up takes less than 3 minutes! Start by going to the Main page. In the top right corner, you will see a link that says Sign Up. Click the link and you will be taken to our registration page where you'll be asked a few questions, such as your email, name and to create a password for the site. If you have trouble finding the "Sign Up" link, click anywhere on the fan of photos on the Main page and you will be directed to registration.

What are the benefits of creating a profile?
When you create a profile on Dave's Car Space, you are able to network with individuals like yourself, take advantage of our free classified section, find old high school friends, show off your ride to the car enthusiasts community, and even list your business for free in our Business listing section. There are numerous benefits to belonging to Dave's Car Space; those are just the highlights!

How do I personalize my Dave's Car Space page?
It's easy to personalize your profile page; add colors, special fonts, even add your favorite cruising song! Start by going to My Page. From there, in the center of your page, you will see text that says This is Your Page. Under that heading you will see links to upload photos, add a song, and edit your profile answers. As well, by clicking the link customizing its appearance will allow you to change the color and theme of your profile background easily through pre-made templates.

I lost my password, what should I do?
To retrieve your password, go to the sign in page and click Forgot your password?. Simply type in your email address and we will send your password to you. If you still have difficulty, click here.

Will other members have my e-mail information?
No, at Dave's Car Space we realize the importance of privacy and will never share your email information with businesses, other members, or advertisers. Your email will only be shared if you choose to share it on the site through your profile or in forums.

How do I browse through other member profiles?
You have two options to browse profiles: 1. Click on the Members tab at the top of the site. From there you can browse profiles randomly by clicking on their profile name or photo; or 2. If you are looking for a particular member, go to the Main page where you will see a search box with orange text in the upper left corner. Search by high school, name, or keyword.

How do I invite a friend?
Please help our community grow by inviting your friends to the site; it's easy! On the upper right of Dave's Car Space, you will see a tab that says Invite. From there, enter your friends' email addresses, type your greeting and click Send Invitations. Voila! You've just helped your community grow! Please note that many email servers have junk filters that may place your invitation in the user's junk box. If you don't hear from your friend on Dave's Car Space, let them know you sent the invitation so that they can check their junk mail. If you still have difficulty, simply send the link http://davespace.ning.com via regular email, so they can find the site.

How do I leave a message privately for another member?
Click on the member's profile you would like to email. When you are at their page, look under their main photo and click Send a message.

How do I check my message inbox?
You can access your inbox from any place on the site. At the very top of Dave's Car Space, you will see an envelope icon at the upper left side of the page. Click on the envelope and your personal message center will appear.

How do I add another member as a friend?
Go to the member's profile you would like to add as a friend. Underneath the member's main photo, click Add as friend. A friend request will be sent to the member and when approved, you will be friends on the Dave's Car Space network!

How do I accept a friend request from another member?
When you have received a friend request from another member, the friend icon, which is located at the top of the website next to the envelope icon, will glow green. You can check out your current requests by clicking on the friend icon. A drop down window will appear showing you who is requesting to be your friend, at which time you can choose to either accept or decline the request. Make sure you are signed in to view this option.

How do I add photos to my page?
Start by going to My Page. In the center of your page, click on the Add photos link to start uploading.

How many photos can I add to my profile?
As many as you'd like!

Joining and Creating Clubs

How do I join a club?
Go to the Clubs tab at the top center of Dave's Car Space. Click on the title of the club you'd like to join (ie. Lowrider, Billet Proof, Mopar, etc). On the far left click Join (Club Name) Now! You are now a member of the club!

Can I create my own club?
Sure, we welcome you to add your current auto club to our site. Go to the Clubs tab and click Create a new Club on the left side of the page. You will be asked to create a club name and description. As well, you can upload an image to use as the club icon.

Listing your Business

Is it free to list my business on Dave's Car Space?
Yes, Dave's Car Space offers completely free business advertising to promote your growing business.

How do I list my business?
Go to the Business tab and click on the category best describing your services or type of business (ie. Air Conditioning, Audio and Sound, etc). Once you are in the business category most appropriate for your business, click Add your own! from the upper right side of the page. List the title of your page and business information. Under the "tags" section, it is advisable to, again, state your business name, which will make it easier for users to find your business through the search box.

Listing your For Sale items on Dave's Car Space

Is it free to list my for sale item on Dave's Car Space?
Yes, Dave's Car Space offers free space to list your for sale items, both in our Classifieds section and on your profile page.

How and where do I list my for sale item?
You can list your item either in our Classifieds section or on your profile page, or in both places. To list on your personal page, go to the About Me section of your page located on the left and click Edit at the bottom of the box. Fill in the question Auto-related Items FOR SALE with your listing information. Click Save to confirm. To list in our classifieds section, click on the Classifieds tab. You are given four categories--Cars & Trucks, Parts & Accessories, Literature & Memorabilia, WANTED--to choose from. Please choose the category most appropriate for your listing. Click on the yellow Click here to list an item for sale link under the appropriate category. Title your item, give a price and list contact information. You can opt to have members contact you through Dave's Car Space by stating "Please contact me through Dave's Car Space". Interested buyers will email you through the Dave's Car Space message center.

Is there a limit of how many for sale items I can list?
We have no limit to the number of items you can list, so feel free to list away! Please make listing titles as clear as possible, so that it's easy for members to navigate the Classifieds section.

Forum

How do I start a discussion in the forum?
You have a couple of options in the forum. You can start a discussion in the two current categories already listed, which are Ask Dave! and Current Events. To ask a question in the Ask Dave! section, click the red button that says "Click here to ask your question!". You will be prompted to create a title for your question and then to list your question. Additionally, you can choose a .jpg or .gif file to upload a photo to attach with your listing. Similarly, to list a current event, just click the blue button that says "Click here to add an event". Again, you will be asked to create a title for your event and describe it in the posting.

How do I add to a discussion already started?
This is a great question. For example, in the Forum section, perhaps you'd like to list a current event. Under the Current Events section, there is already a discussion started for "2008 Antique Auto Shows" and your event will fall under this category. In order to keep some organization in this category and not be redundant, go ahead and click on the title "2008 Antique Auto Shows". On the top right of the page, click the link for "List Yours!" List your event and it will appear under this topic.

Featured Member

How do I become a Featured Member?
You can nominate yourself or a friend to be our Featured Member. Our Featured Member section changes monthly, so if you have a great story, cool ride, or interesting auto story, we'd love to hear from you. Simply shoot an email to teamdavewebmaster@gmail.com and tell us briefly about yourself, story and car. If interested, we will get back to you to arrange an email or phone interview!
